Ops audit

operations & toolsUpdated October 2026 · reviewed by the Forge team

also known as operations audit · operational audit

A short, structured look at how a firm actually runs - its apps, its workflows and the hours its people lose to manual work - ending in a ranked list of what to fix first.

For example, a Forge ops audit takes two weeks. We talk to your team, map every app you use, count the hours lost to copying, chasing and rekeying, and scope and price your first three builds. It costs $2,500 / £2,000, credited to your first month if you go on to a monthly plan.

Why it matters to your firm: it replaces 'we should really sort our systems out' with a number and a plan. You know which problem costs your people the most time, what a fix would cost and whether it pays back - before you commit to anything bigger. Start with an ops audit, or run your own with our free template.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ops audit?

A short, structured look at how a firm actually runs - its apps, its workflows and the hours its people lose to manual work - ending in a ranked list of what to fix first.

What do you get at the end of an ops audit?

A map of your apps, the hours your team loses and where, and your first three builds scoped and priced, in order.

Can we run an ops audit ourselves?

Yes - the free ops audit template walks through the same steps. Having someone outside the firm do it tends to get more honest answers about where time goes.
