Background

Six years running a people business

Tom founded Fame and has run it for six years. Fame starts and grows podcasts for B2B companies: the team finds and books guests, produces episodes and promotes each show, for more than 100 clients. The team is fully remote, with no office. Fame also runs Fame Crew, which finds local videographers for shoots and handles the editing afterwards.

For most of those years Tom wanted proper internal software for the team, but it was always too expensive or the right developers were hard to find. So he started building it himself.

Forge

Building the tools himself

Tom builds Fame’s internal tools personally, working with AI coding tools, and Forge is that work offered to other people businesses - firms that sell their people’s expertise and time, like agencies, accountants, lawyers and consultants. The 13 tools in the build log are ones he built and still runs for Fame’s team. Read them all on one page.

In six months he shipped 1.17 million lines of code across 6,755 commits for the Fame team - and learned the lesson behind Forge’s first belief the hard way: software is the easy part, and change takes time. Tom studied at Imperial College London and writes about running a people business to more than 224,000 followers on LinkedIn, and is on X too.
